Hey ya'll, it's been a while, now it friday. Weather's been crazy around here lately, snowed yesterday, and today it's in the mid-thirties with a wind up to 50mph. But it's a warm south wind, so I think it's finally gonna warm up around here, start thawing things out.
Yesterday spent most of the day baking bread and asaliaqs for our church bake sale today. Today I was called in to work at the elementary school, 6 hours of Sub-teacher pay, $13 an hour! course, that's 6 hours of dealing with a classfull of kids, and while most of them are alright, there's always those couple kids... lol. Anyways, I need the need the money. lol.
Only Two Weeks left of college!!! Graduation is May 6!! And, ya, I know exactly what you're saying, Meg, this is crunch-time in the worst way! lol.
And less than 3 weeks till I'm outta here!!! yay.. I can't wait.. lol.

Fully Involved..

We've all seen them. We've all watched a movie which at some point has a house on fire, fire that's pouring out the windows, and leaping from the roof. A house that's fully involved.
Yesterday morning, 6:05am, fire tones went off, "All volunteer firefighters, all volunteer firefighters, engine 3 requires assistance at #33 trailer court, visible flames." 6:08, Medic 4 is rolling out of the bay, Zay and I in the back, hurridly putting on our gear. 6:09, we top a hill less than 1/2 a mile from the fire, Zay and I can't see the fire, but we hear, "Geez..." from the driver- it's a big fire. 6:10, we pull up to the biggest fire yet this year, the first fire I've been to that I've actually seen the fire, and boy, did I ever see this fire! A fully involved trailer! Ya know, it looks just like the movies, I was wishing I had my camera. Engine 3 with their crew of 2(Matt and Dustin) were doing all the could just to keep the trailer's next to it from burning as well. By the time we arrived they were already running low on water, Tanker getting there just in time to keep them from totally running dry. Even then they were spraying water as fast as tanker could pump it and it was barely enough to keep the other trailers from burning. 6:35, half and hour after then call, flames are finally starting to diminish. 6:50, smoke so thick that I can't see the house 20 ft away, but an orange glow in the shape of a window tells me the fire is still going inside the house. Finally the fire is more or less out and the smoke clears to reveal two walls of the trailer being held up by the roof which is now resting on the ground. The other two walls and the addition that was built on to the side were burned to the ground. Also the rather new Kia that was probably worth more than the trailer it was parked by was also toast.
So anyway, no casualties, nobody hurt, and no other structures were seriously damaged, so it was a good fire. Also, I'd like to thank the person who brought us warm food at the fire. I may not know who it was, but it was greatly appreciated by everyone.
Well, I've had my excitement for a while, now I got a research paper to finish before tomorrow.
I'll talk to ya'll later, see ya soon at BTI!!!!

Died? I died once...

Ya, and Zay got a busted head, and I rose from the dead and helped carry him. lol. Seriously. Well, ok, it was a simulation, but it was rather convincing. There's a Wilderness First Responders class (advanced first aid, basically) going on, and on Friday they needed zay and I to be victims in simulation as part of their test. So, the scenario was a car accident. I was driving, had a heart attack, and ran off the road. Zay was in the driver's seat, and cracked his head on the windshield. Kid in the backseat broke his arm, and girl having an asthma attack. When the rescue team got there we had all the doors locked except the back window, by which they to enter the car, I was laying on the horn, and we had the music going as loud as it could get. lol. Only problem was that the back window accidentally got locked! LOL. so it took them a little longer to get in. lol. It was fun, I died, And Zay got to hurl on the first person that opened his door. lol. Here's a picture off zay's head.

Beauty, ain't he?

Yesterday was another simulation, this time we(Me, Dustin, Curtis[the kid] broke through the ice and Dustin was unconcious, I had a busted wrist, and Curtis had a broken leg and head injury. This time I was the hero and pulled dustin out of the water and saved his life. :D lol. Anyways, that's all for now, I don't have the pictures of yesterday yet, so I'll post one or two tomorrow. lol.

Monotony Broken

Well, well, well, guess what happened this morning.. yup, at 2:15am there was another fire. Only thing is that I didn't get to help put this one out. It was smaller than it looked, and Engine 3 got it out before we had a chance to leave the station. Rats. So Zay and I just waited around the station for them to come back so we could all clean up and go back home to sleep. 4:30 we got everything cleaned up and on the road back home. So, wasn't the most exciting, far as fires go, it wasn't a house, and for that I am glad, it was just and out-building, with nobody in it, and most likely nothing important, either. So, I kinda wish the fire was a little bigger, so I coulda had some fun, but anyway, it was a little excitement, and I'm sure whoever the owner is is glad it wasn't any bigger. lol. So anyways, I gotta go now, see ya'll later!!

Word of the Day for Thursday April 2, 2005

magniloquent \mag-NIL-uh-kwent\, adjective:
Lofty or grandiose in speech or expression; using a high-flown
style of discourse; bombastic.

Stevens did for American poetic language what Saul Bellow
was to do for prose, extending its boundaries, taking in
the magniloquent, the arcane, the plainspoken, the gaudy,
the low-rent.
--Algis Valiunas, "Wallace Stevens: Collected Poetry and
Prose," [1]Commentary, January 1, 1998

A feature of Young's intellectual project is to incorporate
the Elizabethan delight in metaphors both decorous and
indecorous, constantly embellishing her prose with a poetic
juxtaposition of the grand with the prosaic, "a constant
alternation of the magniloquent and the colloquial."
--Constance Eichenlaub, "Marguerite Young," [2]Review of
Contemporary Fiction, June 22, 2000
